Life presents us with many challenges and sometimes we come out the other side with scars. These scars can remind us both consciously and unconsciously that we might not be the same person that we were before we faced this challenge. That does not mean that we are necessarily worse off, but it does mean we have changed. Change is hard and can often feel like you are wandering around in the dark trying to navigate your way. But if it didn’t get dark at night we would not be able to see the stars shine in the sky. The same can be said for our own strength and resilience. However, our minds and bodies sometimes take the lead and try to protect us by creating maladaptive coping strategies that can show up as anxiety and depression. It is important to get to know these coping strategies in order to help shift them to more healthy and productive outlets. Sometimes just offering these scarred places compassion and curiosity can allow for release and progress. Healing is not a linear process, it is more circular and holistic. My approach offers the possibility to meet you where you are at, and continue to explore your unique potential as it evolves and shifts through the therapeutic process.
